China executes man who killed more than 30 people in car rampage

China has executed a man who was found guilty of killing at least 35 people when he rammed his car into a crowd outside a sports stadium.
Fan Weiqu, 62, drove his car into a group of people in the southern city of Zhuhai in November, in what is said to be the deadliest attack in the country for a decade.
He was executed on Monday after his death sentence was approved by the Supreme People's Court, the highest court in China.
Local police say Fan carried out the attack after he was upset over a recent divorce.
China also executed another man, 21-year-old Xu Jiajin, on Monday.
In November, Xu killed eight people and injured 17 others in a stabbing frenzy at his school in the eastern city of Wuxi.
Police said that Xu had not passed his examinations, was unable to graduate, and was dissatisfied with his internship wages.
Both killings have prompted Chinese President Xi Jinping to urge local governments to take measures against such attacks, referred to as "revenge on society crimes".
China is reported to have executed more prisoners each year than the rest of the world combined, though the precise total is classified.
Executions are traditionally carried out by gunshot, though lethal injections have also been introduced in recent years.
