One of the 27 victims injured at the Liverpool parade on Monday has told ITV News that he had to "brace for impact" as he saw the car driving towards him on Water Street.

David Price, 44, from Pembrokeshire has travelled nearly 200 miles to the city to see his heroes lift the Premier League trophy on Sunday and watch the parade on Monday.

David, alongside a friend and his friend's son, had come to Liverpool for what was supposed to be a weekend of celebrations.

The friends were in Anfield not only to celebrate Liverpool Football Club's victory of the Premier League, but to celebrate the news that David has just overcome cancer.

David told ITV News that they were watching the parade and had just glimpsed ex Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp, remarking on how they were "somehow in the right time right place for that and the bus arriving".

But shortly after seeing the parade pass by, the traumatic events unfolded right before their eyes on Water Street.

David said: "We then proceeded to head up the street and I could see a bit of commotion going on ahead and seen a deck chair behind thrown in the air. At that point, I told my mates to watch out.

"With that I could hear banging and screaming then a loud noise of the revving of the car, we were jammed in but I could start to see the crowd parting and then the car heading towards us. It seemed to just head towards us, so I managed to push my friend away then brace myself."

Luckily, David has since been discharged from hospital with injured knees and a stitched head after he hit the pillar and windscreen of the car.

David said that the people of Liverpool were "amazing" in helping him and will "always be grateful" given they were all strangers to him.

Paying thanks to those on Water Street and the emergency services, David said "they were willing to help me when the unknown was going on - so thank you so much."
