UK Foreign Office launches website for UK nationals in Israel to 'register their presence'

The UK Foreign Office has launched a website for British nationals currently in Israel to register their presence, as the conflict with Iran escalates amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
The Foreign Office says this will allow them to keep British citizens up to date with the latest alerts and travel advice, however it is also seen as a preemptive move ahead of evacuations, should hostilities with Iran escalate and they become necessary.
To record their details with the Foreign Office, UK nationals will need an email address and a UK passport number.
The Prime Minister announced the plans at the G7 summit in Canada on Monday, with the Foreign Secretary David Lammy confirming them in parliament shortly after.
If you are a UK citizen currently in Israel or the Occupied Palestinian Territories, let the Foreign Office know here.
Iran and Israel have exchanged hundreds of missiles as Israel attempts to take out Tehran's nuclear capabilities despite international efforts to encourage deescalation.
The UK currently has no plans to evacuate Britons stranded in Israel but support has been stepped up in Jordan and Egypt for people who make their own way overland.
Downing Street said its key message to British nationals in Israel was to stay near shelter and follow the advice of local authorities.
Addressing MPs in the House of Commons on Monday, the Foreign Secetary David Lammy said: "We expect more strikes in the days to come. This is a moment of grave danger for the region."
He continued: "We are further updating our travel advice to signpost border crossing points and sending rapid deployment teams to Egypt and to Jordan to bolster our consular presence near the border."
Reiterating the UK was not involved in the strikes against Iran, David Lammy stressed the need for diplomacy at this crucial time.
"We agree with President Trump when he says negotiations are necessary and must lead to a deal.
"Fundamentally, no military action can put an end to Iran's nuclear capabilities.
"Our message to both Israel and Iran is clear. Step back, show restraint, don't get pulled ever deeper into a catastrophic conflict whose consequences nobody can control.
"Further escalation in the Middle East is not in Britain's interests, nor the interests of Israel, Iran or the region. There are hundreds of thousands of British nationals living in the region and with Iran a major oil producer and one fifth of the total world's oil consumption flowing through the Strait of Hormuz, escalating conflict poses real risks for the global economy."
David Lammy told MPs: "Iran remains the only state without nuclear weapons accumulating uranium at such dangerously high levels."
He added that Iran's uranium stockpile was now "40 times higher" than what was permitted under the nuclear deal they signed up to.
"Our vision remains unchanged, an end to Iran's nuclear programme and destabilising regional activity. Israel securing its borders and at peace with its neighbours. A sovereign Palestinian state as part of the two state solution."
