Mark Hughes extends stay as Head Coach of Carlisle United

Carlisle United Head Coach Mark Hughes has extended his spell as Head Coach at the club following relegation to the National League.
Hughes arrived at Brunton Park in February as the third Head Coach of the season after the departure of Paul Simpson and Mike Williamson.
The Blues finished in 23rd in League Two with 42 points from 46 games, seven points from safety.
Speaking to Carlisle United following the appointment, Hughes said: "I'm thrilled to be staying at the club.
"Since joining back in February, the support I've received from the fans has been exceptional - thank you.
"I hope to see more of the same next season as we aim for an immediate return to the EFL."
During Hughes' spell in charge United lost one game at home and won three consecutive games for the first time in over two years.
His overall record saw him have five wins, six draws and seven defeats from 18 matches in charge.
Speaking to Carlisle United club chairman Tom Piatak said: "We’re pleased to confirm the extension of Mark Hughes as Head Coach of Carlisle United.
"Mark brought the squad together during the closing stretch of the season and gave us a fighting chance. His leadership, composure, and connection with the players was clear, and we’re confident in his ability to lead us forward."
When asked by ITV Border, Carlisle United have said that they can not confirm the length of the contract given to Mark Hughes.
