Murder investigation launched after woman killed in Bingley

Police were called to a house on Airedale Avenue in Cottingley, Bingley.

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was killed in West Yorkshire.

Police were called to a house on Airedale Avenue in Cottingley, Bingley, at around 10.45am on Tuesday, 11 March after safety concerns were reported.

A 54-year-old woman was found with serious injuries and died shortly after.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

West Yorkshire Police says the pair knew each other and they believe it was a domestic-related incident.

SIO Det Ch Insp James Entwistle said: "This is a tragic incident where a woman has lost her life, our thoughts go out to her family and friends at this time.

"Her next of kin have been informed and specialist family liaison officers are providing support."
