A collection of rare and exotic designer Hermès handbags have been stolen from a house in one of the wealthiest villages in the UK.

More than 100 rare and one-of-a-kind bags, including several Birkins worth up to £60,000 each, were taken from a home in Alderley Edge on Monday, 17 February, between the hours of 7pm and 11pm.

Cheshire Police say the burglars broke into the home on Macclesfield Road by climbing up a ladder at the side of the property and through a skylight window.

Among the items taken was a gold watch as well as an Ostrich leather Birkin and a Hermès mini Kelly Picnic bag which together could be worth more than £100,000.

Police say the victim is offering a £10,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone connected to the burglary.

Detective Sergeant Laura Fox, of Macclesfield CID, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing, and we would urge anyone who witnessed this incident or saw anything suspicious to get in touch with us.

“The same goes for anyone with dashcam footage or CCTV which might aid our investigation. We also want to hear from anyone who thinks they may have information regarding the whereabouts of the items that were stolen.”
