Kent footballer dies aged 26 as GoFundMe set up for heartbroken family

Former Tonbridge Angels and Maidstone United midfielder Devonte Aransibia has died at the age of 26.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the family of the young footballer, who started his career at Norwich City.
A statement on the page said: "It is with heavy hearts that we come together to honour the life of Dev, a loving partner, devoted father, cherished son, and dear friend to so many.
"Dev was the embodiment of kindness and compassion, always ready with a warm smile. His infectious laughter and generous spirit brightened every room he entered, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
"Beyond his loving nature, Dev was a talented footballer whose passion and drive propelled him to great success on the pitch.
"As we navigate this incredibly difficult time, we want to rally around Dev’s family and provide them with the support they need. Your contributions will help allow them to focus on healing and honouring Dev's legacy.
"No amount is too small, and every donation will go directly to supporting his family during this difficult time.
"Thank you for your love, support, and kindness. Together, we can ensure that Dev's memory lives on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return."

Aransibia was one of Maidstone United’s unsung heroes in their memorable FA Cup run last year, scoring a crucial goal and assisting another in their 2-0 win against Chesham United in the first round.
He wasn’t at the club to feature in their matches against Ipswich & Coventry, as he was allowed to leave on loan, joining Tonbridge Angels in January 2024.
Chair of Tonbridge Angels, Sophie Purves, released her own statement on the club's website, saying: “Everyone at Tonbridge Angels is utterly devastated by the tragic news of Devonte’s death.
"He was such a strong, talented footballer and a sensitive young man. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to have known and worked with him and he’ll never be forgotten.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Devonte’s family and friends at this dreadful time. We thank our club chaplain, Neil Durling, for all the support he is giving to everyone at the club. Rest in peace Devonte.”
