Six appear in court charged with murder after fatal alleged acid attack in Plymouth

Six people charged with murder in connection with an acid attack in Plymouth have appeared in court.

38-year-old Danny Cahalane was allegedly attacked at his own home in Lipson Road, at 3.55am on 21 February. He died in hospital three months later.

Nine suspects were initially arrested and today at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court, six of them faced fresh charges of murder.

All six appeared remotely by video link from prison. They spoke only to confirm their names, dates of birth and addresses.

Abdul-Radheed Adedoja, of North Circular Road, London; Brian Kalemba, of Eastbury Square, Barking; Ramarnee Bakas, of Junction Road, London; Isanah Sungum, of Sterling Way, Edmonton; and Israel Augustus, of Pulford Road, London, and 34-year-old Paris Wilson of The Quay, Plymouth were all formally charged with murder.

They were all remanded in custody by chair of magistrates Nicholas Mansfield, and will next appear at Plymouth Crown Court in person for a pre-trial preparation hearing on Wednesday 4 June.

The police investigation - codenamed Operation Lobpass - has included assistance from the National Crime Agency as well as the Metropolitan Police and Wiltshire Police.
